This lush and biodiverse ecosystem, with towering trees, exotic flora, and a symphony of topical birds creates an enchanting and immersive experience. Today you’ll dive head first into this sensory experience with a guided drive and a guide to take you through some of the most important sites.
Depart Charlotteville, traveling up and over the lush mountains for a scenic drive along the Eastern seashore. Stop at the Speyside lookout and enjoy sweeping views of mountains, cost and offshore islands.
Continue through tiny villages clinging to the mountainsides, and past picturesque bays, as you learn about Tobago's turbulent history and the fascinating mélange of people that make up the present citizenry.
At Gilpin Trace, your trained naturalist guide meets up with you for a guided trek. The hike takes you through the oldest rain forest in the western hemisphere, and the Gilpin Trace is famous for its abundance of birdlife. Learn about Tobago's indigenous flora and fauna as your guide points out the most interesting species. A refreshing drink will be served.
Stop for a break and listen to the sounds of the forest before returning to the transport and heading back to the ship via the same route.
Due to the strenuous hiking route, participants must be physically fit. Wear sturdy walking shoes. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.
