Embarking on a food tour in Cozumel is a delicious adventure where you can savor the authentic flavors of the region. On this four-hour foodie tour, you’ll explore the downtown area of the island while visiting three "must-see" bars. At each location you will taste different Mexican drinks and delicious signature tacos.
After a brief drive from the pier, you will arrive at El Palomar, located in one of the oldest houses on the island, dating back to 1903. Today it is one of the trendiest bars in Cozumel. Enjoy a signature welcome drink, a carnitas taco, and a Xtabentún tasting; the elixir of the Mayan people. According to Mayan legend, Xtabentún is born of the spirit Xtabay, a woman who was treated as a sinner but was ultimately seen as someone kind and caring toward others.
A short walk up the street brings you to Chela Nah, translating to "House of Beer." It is one of the newer bars in Cozumel. Here, you will be welcomed with some craft Mexican beer samples accompanied by a seafood taco. No visit to Mexico would be complete without enjoying a tequila tasting and despite the name of this bar, it will not disappoint when it comes to tequila.
Now we will cross the street and visit El Fish, an old classic island cantina with the brightest and most beautiful murals (a great opportunity for those social media pictures). Here we will try tequila’s smokier counterpart, Mezcal; it is quickly growing in popularity and here you will delight with its unique taste.
Finally, walk toward downtown a few blocks and enjoy approximately 30 to 45 minutes of free time to shop and explore around the main square before heading back to the pier.
