A scenic drive brings you to the ruins of San Gervasio – the largest and most important of the Maya settlements on the island of Cozumel. Follow your local expert guide through the ruins, which also served as a religious center. You’ll also learn about the deity Ixchel, goddess of fertility and health. You'll see fragments of the temples and sculptures on this archaeological site, as well as the ruins of nine buildings connected by three roads.
From here you’ll take a scenic drive around the island, enjoying picturesque landscapes, beautiful beaches, and the ladi-back charm of this Mexican paradise.
To conclude your excursion, you’ll have an interactive visit at the Mayan Cacao Company. This is your chance to learn about the history of chocolate, including the manufacturing process and a delicious tasting.
Please note: Minimum age is 10 years. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Walking is required over uneven surfaces. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Bring insect repellent. Shade is limited; please dress accordingly. Bring a hat, and reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen (no other kind of sunscreen is allowed in the water). To avoid sunburn, bring light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. There is a government tax of $8-10 USD on the use of video cameras at each site. Tripods and/or professional video cameras are not allowed. Flash photography is not allowed inside the ruins due to the delicate nature of the displays. Food cannot be brought into the ruins. Bring local currency, as many vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars.
