Travel to some of the most beautiful and unusual sights of Martinique, leaving you in awe of this incredible island.
You'll set out to explore, stopping first at Balata Church. Set in lush, tropical surroundings atop Soap Hill, this church is the most famous and visited church in Martinique. It is quite a curiosity because it is a miniature version of the Sacred Heart Basilica in Paris. Take in views of Fort-de-France and the bay.
Next, you'll follow La Route de la Trace through the rainforest and skirt the Alma River. Stopping for photos at the Saut du Gendarme, you can take a few moments to bathe in the pool beneath the 33-foot-tall waterfall, if you wish. The natural bounty of the peninsula makes this an excellent place to admire the lush vegetation and relax in the cooling water.
Victor Depaz was the only person in his family to survive the 1902 eruption of Mount Pelee volcano.
Fifteen years later, he opened the Depaz Distillery — a celebration of his good fortune and a tribute to his lost family. Stop here for a visit and a rum tasting .
Please note: Minimum age is 15 years. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Swim at your own risk. Bring aqua shoes. The path over Alma River can be rocky. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations.
