When you arrive at this small group tour of Martinique (20 privileged guests), your journey has just begun. On this day trip, you’ll travel to some of the most beautiful and unusual sights of Martinique, leaving you in awe of this incredible place.
You’ll set out with your small group for an intimate and personalized tour of Martinique, stopping first at Balata Church. Mixed in with the lush tropical surroundings atop Soap Hill, this church is the most famous and visited church in Martinique. Guided by a Mountain Monitor, you'll see Balata Church. This church is quite a curiosity because it is a miniature version of the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Paris. After the tour, take in views of Fort-de-France and the bay.
Next you'll follow La Route de la Trace through the rain forest and skirt the Alma River. This site reflects the natural bounty of the peninsula and is an excellent place to admire the lush vegetation and to rest in the pools. Stopping for photos at the Saut du Gendarme, you can bathe in the pool beneath the 33-foot-tall waterfall.
Victor Depaz was the only person in his family to survive the 1902 eruption of Mount Pelee volcano.
Fifteen years later, he opened the Depaz Distillery – a celebration of his good fortune and a tribute to his lost family. Stop here for a visit and a tasting.
Please note: Minimum age is 15 years. Wear your swimsuit under your clothes; bring a towel, sunscreen and a hat. Water shoes are advised. The path over Alma River can be rocky, so guests who are not in good physical condition are not advised.
