This tour is designed to highlight some of the most beautiful points in Carriacou, or the "Isle of Reefs." This enchanting destination is known for its unspoiled natural beauty, deeply rooted traditions, and welcoming community. On this driving tour you’ll see much of the preserved history, making it a hidden gem you’ll remember for a lifetime.
From the capital of Hillsborough, you’ll pass through Beausejour, a serene coastal village that’ll give you a glimpse into the unhurried island lifestyle, with its pristine coral reefs, swaying palm trees, and magical drifts.
Continue on to Belair, where the Princess Royal Hospital (otherwise known as Belair Hospital) is situated.
At the hospital there is a scenic overlook of Hillsborough, with Sandy Island in the background. This island is known for its picture-perfect looks. Observe the untouched paradise with soft white sands and turquoise waters while the ocean breezes caress your skin.
From here Grenada-Petite Martinique and St. Vincent can also be seen, which are Union Islands. Bequia, Palm Island, Mayreau, Canouan and Petite St. Vincent are also visible from the lookout. Look closely and you’ll see the Tobago Cays too.
Continue along your journey from Belair to Belvedere and Dover, on the windward side of the island. These areas are home to the old boat building industry in Carriacou. When building is in process the ship wrights will explain how the boats are built.
From here, the drive continues to Bogles and on to a botanical garden. You’ll find a lush oasis of tropical flora and fauna, offering you a serene escape to explore vibrant plant life, observe native and exotic plant species, and appreciate the island’s natural beauty.
Then you’ll pause back in Hillsborough to visit a museum. When the tour is over, you’ll leave this small, laid-back island with incredible memories and photos that will last a lifetime.
