Depart the port and drive east to the first capital of Trinidad, St Joseph, or Jose de Oruna as it was called in the old days. After your short history lesson you will continue to the Maracas Waterfall. The Maracas Waterfall is situated in the upper part of the Maracas Valley. It is a little over 300 feed (91.5 m.) in height and is situated in cool, beautiful surroundings. The drive to the trailhead is approximately 13 miles each way (20.8 kms) from the port. From the trailhead you will hike among the flora and fauna approximately 1 ½ miles each way (2.4 km) to reach the waterfall. The path is a bridle track. After taking in this beautiful scenery, return to the coach and then travel back to the port.
Please note: Please wear good hiking shoes. Water will be provided on the buses. Elevation gain is approximately 850 feet and is strenuous.
