To start your adventure, set out on a panoramic drive through lush rainforest and past cascading waterfalls with glimpses of the azure Caribbean Sea. This breathtaking coastal panorama accompanies you to your destination -- the famous reef and snorkel location of Champagne Reef.
Perched on the edge of a submerged volcano, this reef is Dominica's number one snorkeling hotspot and ranks among the top five snorkeling spots in the Caribbean. More than just a coral reef, this one features underwater geothermal springs that vent gasses in the form of thousands of warm bubbles. It makes you feel as if you're swimming through a giant glass of sparkling wine. What could be more luxurious than that?
The reef is a spectacular underwater wonderland. Expect to see a myriad of sea life, including sponges, lobster, parrotfish and a resident population of Hawksbill turtles, in addition to colorful coral gardens. A PADI-certified guide is on hand to explain everything.
Relax on the beach with some free time to swim and enjoy the warm, crystal-clear Caribbean waters before the drive back to the ship.
Please note: The shoreline is rocky and uneven. Participants must have a good sense of balance. Wear aqua shoes. Minimum age is 12 years. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Swim at your own risk. Guests with a heart condition, epilepsy, diabetes or asthma are not allowed to participate in snorkeling. Waiver must be signed and medical conditions disclosed. The route is winding. Guests who are prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication. Minimum age is 12 years.
