You won’t want to miss this tour of Saint Lucia, which truly has it all. From panoramic views to cozy inlets of the Caribbeans where you can take photos, from succulent tastes of rum to savor to the live sounds of the Caribbean to tap your foot to, all complete with historic information about the island to take in– it’s a well-rounded adventure that’ll leave you inspired.
Begin your tour with a breathtaking panoramic view of the city from the historic hilltop of Morne Fortune. The name means "Hill of Good Luck," so you're off to a great start.
Then you’ll make your way to the old colonial-type family home in St. Marks, where you will hear about the history of the family and of the home itself.
Then, carry on to Marigot Bay – surely one of the loveliest tropical inlets in the Caribbean. It is a double harbor that shelters many visiting yachts. This picturesque and sheltered natural harbor is surrounded by lush green hills, offering a serene harbor for sailors and a serene backdrop for traveler. You will have time to stroll here and take photos in this cove that was the setting for the movies Doctor Dolittle and Superman 2.
At the only rum distillery on the island – Saint Lucia Distillers – you'll see how this cane-based nectar of the gods is produced and taste the finished product, perhaps buying a bottle to take home. Your guided distillery tour includes an audio-visual presentation, after which you'll see how a village street, spice market and carnival have been recreated to offer visitors an insight into the lifestyle and spirit of St. Lucians.
Continue to Howelton Estate for a brief demonstration of batik-making, the traditional textile art form on the island. Admire and perhaps purchase some of the wall hangings and apparel for which Caribelle Batik is justifiably famous. You'll be treated to the sweet sounds of a one-man steel-pan band – we’re quite sure it's quite catchy and entertaining. Fruit juice and rum punch, as well as a selection of local snacks, are served before you return to the pier.
Please Note: Minimum age is 18 years. Participants must negotiate up to 30 steps at Howelton Estate and steps on two levels at the rum distillery, some of which are uneven. Guests with mobility limitations should take this into consideration. The route is winding. Guests who are prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication.
