The true St. Lucian way of life comes alive on this excursion, which will take you a sensory adventure through the native way of life. Along the way, you’ll visit a historic plantation estate that features exquisite architecture and lush gardens. You’ll leave this tour inspired by the rich history of St. Lucia and all the island has to offer.
First, you’ll experience the local traditions of St Lucia at a National Heritage Site –- Fond Latisab Creole Park. This is where you can have a go at cassava bread-making, cooking on macambou leaves using an authentic two-handed saw. Take part in this traditional practice to the rhythm of a Shak Shak band and participate in Creole folk dance – a truly "kweyol" outing. While you are here, you can peruse the small locally made souvenirs that are for sale.
Continue through the countryside with views of rolling hills and lush vegetation, with glimpses of the Atlantic coast, before arriving at Stony Hill Great House – the family home of the Stonys. Situated on a high ridge on the north end of the island, this quiet haven is surrounded by a garden with bright tropical flowers and fruit trees.
Enjoy refreshments and snacks while taking in the beautiful panoramic view of the Rodney bay area. On a clear day, you can see the island of Martinique in the distance.
Take a leisurely stroll along the many pathways in the three-acre garden to discover a wide variety of tropical trees, plants, vegetables and herbs, along with orchids and cacti, and the pièce de résistance -- a cascading waterfall.
Please Note: Minimum age is 5 years. The route is winding and bumpy; guests who suffer from motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication. Maximum weight is 250 lbs.
