Go beyond the ordinary with a drive to Balata. Here you’ll find a tropical paradise with lush botanical gardens, suspended treetop walkways, and vibrant flora. It’s an immersive experience in the heart of the island’s natural beauty.
While here you’ll see an exact replica of the Basilica of Montmartre in Paris, with a spectacular view of Fort de France and the bay. Then explore Balata Garden, which has been opened to the public after 20 years of collecting flowers and plants, and of preparation of the grounds by the owner Mr. Jean Philippe Thoze. Walk under the trees, see the multitude of botanical plants, and admire harmoniously placed flowers.
Crossing La Trace Road, stop in charming Morne Rouge to enjoy an authentic Creole lunch. You’ll be able to admire the Caribbean Sea and lush hills along with a laid-back atmosphere and tranquil escape.
In the afternoon, visit Depaz Distillery, where an explanation of the process of rum production will be given. The rum of Martinique has a "controlled designation of origin" like wines and spirits, and it is the sole unique appellation of rum in the entire world. Before returning to the ship, you will have the opportunity to taste this exceptional product.
