Begin your tour with a drive to Palmavera to explore the round towers and huts erected by the Nuragic civilization during the Bronze Age. Palmavera boasts one of the island's largest Neolithic sites, featuring a palatial structure surrounded by 50 round huts and towers, all built of large stones without the use of mortar. Continue to the lookout at Capo Caccia where you will have a wonderful view of the island of Foradada and of the Escala del Cabirol—a huge stairway sculpted in the rock, leading to the Neptune’s Grotto. After this, head back to Alghero along the road skirting the Gulf of Porto Conte. Once back in Alghero you will visit the 14th-century Church of San Francesco. Located in Alghero's walled Old Town, this Gothic Catalan church was partially rebuilt in the 16th century. Wrap up your visit with some free time in Alghero to shop for souvenirs and handicrafts before returning to the ship.
