Board a motor coach for a panoramic drive through Alexandria, Egypt’s second largest city, founded by Alexander the Great. At Fort Qait Bay, you will see the medieval fortress that guards Alexandria’s eastern harbor. It was built on the ruins of Faros Lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Next, visit the Roman amphitheater with its 13 tiers of seats in European marble, columns of green marble from Asia Minor, and mosaic paving. With seating for 800 spectators, the theater was possibly an ancient concert or athletic venue. At the end of your tour, you will head to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Alexandria’s beautiful, modern library which doubles as a complex of museums, exhibition areas and conference centers.
