Explore the splendor of the Pyramid of Cheops and the Great Sphinx, and enjoy a relaxing lunch during a Nile River cruise during this full-day excursion. Following the three-hour drive from Alexandria to Cairo, your first stop is at the last remaining Wonder of the Ancient World, the Great Pyramid of Cheops. See all three major pyramids built by the Pharaohs Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus—theoretically the eternal resting places for their mummified bodies. You’ll also visit the mysterious guardian of this ancient mortuary complex, the great Sphinx, situated in front of the Pyramid of Chephren. This massive statue, with the body of a lion and head of a human, was carved from a single piece of Giza Plateau bedrock, and is considered a national symbol of both ancient and modern Egypt. Time permitting, you will have ashort stop for shopping; then continue your drive to the Nile River to board a riverboat. Enjoy a buffet lunch while cruising gently down the river past busy Cairo neighborhoods. As your Nile River cruise concludes, board your motor coach for the journey back to the port.
