This safari is an adventurous way to explore the eastern part of Crete. It is the perfect excursion for those seeking dramatic scenery with an informative and fun twist.
With a maximum of eight guests in each Land Rover, the day begins with a panoramic drive through Kroustas village, where time has virtually stood still. The local people are mainly farmers, so you will see many donkeys at work here.
Continue up the mountain to a viewpoint offering a panorama of Mirabello Bay from a high elevation.
From here, your off-road adventure takes you through the largest forest on Crete. View nature up close -- bee hives, local wildlife and passing herders and their livestock make up a fascinating tableau.
Your off-road destination is the Katharo Plateau, where few roads exists and the mountains reach a height of almost 5,000 feet.
A Cretan-style lunch is served at a local taverna.
Head to Kritsa for some time to stroll through the small village in search of souvenirs.
You will head back to Agios Nikolaos and the ship afterwards.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes.
