Antibes is located between Nice and Cannes along the French Riviera, and is renowned for its sandy beaches and five-star resorts. This is the place in France where the world’s most famous people come on vacation. As you depart the pier on the first segment of your tour, enjoy a relaxing drive inland (about 30 minutes) to the picturesque village of Biot. Here, you will visit the family-owned glass blowing factory of La Verrerie de Biot. The glass tradition in Provence dates back thousands of years but in Biot everything began in 1956 -- the year in which La Verrerie de Biot created bubble glass, transforming a defect (a bubble) into a feature of quality. Le Verrerie de Biot features several workshops that demonstrate the successive stages of the art of glass blowing, characterized by the bubbly texture that is peculiar to Biot production. Watch glass workers expertly blow, handle and form the molten glass into a work of art. Returning to Antibes, take a walk along the port and the city walls -- an inspirational setting for the Cote d'Azur’s many artists, and famous for Provençal shopping and stunning scenery. This is one of the few ports in Europe with a special berth for mega-yachts. After a brief orientation, enjoy some free time on your own to stroll and explore. Return to the tender pier with your guide, or guests who wish to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so, but must make their own way back to the pier.
Please note: Requires walking over cobblestone surfaces; wear sturdy walking shoes.
