Barcelona's modernist architecture, conceived and executed by architect Antonio Gaudi, has ensured Barcelona's place in the world today, on the map, and heading in the future. This tour offers an insight view to the modernism as its best.
Begin with a panoramic drive along one of Europe's best-known boulevards -- the Passeig de Gràcia. As you travel, your guide will point out the best examples of modernism -- Casa Batlló and Casa Mila (La Pedrera). You'll visit inside La Pedrera so your guide can tell you more about this extraordinary apartment building.
Your next destination is Sagrada Familia Cathedral (the Holy Family Church) -- perhaps Gaudi’s most famous work and still a work-in-progress. Under construction since 1888, was consecrated in 2010, as a basilica, by Pope Benedict XIV. It draws millions of visitors every year and is one of the most cherished monuments in Spain. The impressive height of the ceilings, the play of light and color and its bio-forms make this structure quite unique on a world scale. Your guide will explain its meaning, significance, and importance from the outside as well as from the inside.
Please note: Participants must be able to walk approximately 15 minutes from the Sagrada Familia parking lot to the venue. This tour is available only to guests whose cruise ends in Barcelona, with a transfer to the airport for flights departing after 5pm or with a drop-off in the city center (Plaza España) .
