Founded in 223 BC as a Carthaginian settlement, Cartagena flourished as a port under successive rule by Romans, Goths, Muslims and Christians, resulting in a rich cultural mosaic. Today you will journey through 3,000 years of history, visiting a hilltop castle and Modernist palaces.

Meet your guide at the pier and follow him/her on this walking tour. Head to the lift that leads to Concepción Castle with its fascinating displays focusing on the city's history and its sweeping panoramic views.

Next, stroll along the 18th-century Maritime Wall to see the magnificent harbor.

In the town center, visit City Hall Square and the Calle Mayor, studded with elegant Modernist architecture. Finally, you will explore the 6,000-seat Roman theatre, built circa AD 14. Some portions of the theater have been restored, giving you a sense of its immense size and sophistication.

Please note: This is a walking tour; no coach transportation is included. Not advisable for guests with mobility limitations. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
