Cartagena was a primary Roman colony in 54 BC, known as Carthago Nova. Visit two of the most important archaeological sites in the city on this very special experience not normally available to the public.
Walk with your guide through the Old Quarter -- an archaeological treasure buried beneath the modern city of Cartagena for twenty centuries. Your guide explains the relevance of this millennial city and its wonderful history, from the Phoenician and Roman eras to today.
Visit the Roman Theatre and experience a virtual step back in time to the 1st century BC. Using 3D glasses at the archaeological site, you will better understand the glorious past of this amazing public building.
Next, meet the curator of the Roman Forum district. He will personally welcome you and offer firsthand information about recent finds at the excavation site. This is one of the largest urban archaeological sites in Spain. Stroll through this enormous complex, walking through the Roman streets, the thermal bath complex, the banquet rooms, the religious area, and a temple dedicated to oriental gods.
Enjoy some free time before you conclude your tour and return to the ship in Cartagena.
Please note: The Roman Theatre is closed on Mondays. This is a walking tour, terrain is uneven and the distance covered is significant. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations.
