Corsica is an unspoiled island of majestic snow-capped mountains, deep gorges, cool pine forests, ancient hamlets perched on hillsides, and dazzling beaches -- all in an area only one-fifth the size of Switzerland.
A 30-minute drive brings you a forest trailhead. Meet your certified hiking instructor and set off on a leisurely two-hour hike in the Bonifato Forest. Learn about the history and geography of Corsica, along with the different vegetation, animals, fish and rock formations you may encounter. A series of steep switchbacks makes for a swift rise in elevation.
The hike is followed by an hour of free time to relax, swim or explore further on your own. On the descent, you'll ford the Lamitu Stream.
Enjoy a hearty snack on the riverbank before returning to the pier.
Please note: Wear sturdy walking shoes. Bring a windbreaker. If you wish to swim in the river, wear your swimsuit under your clothing. Swim at your own risk. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Minimum age is 12 years. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, inclines, gravel, grass, rocks, and many steps. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability prior to booking, as the walk is uphill, over unpaved, rough walking tracks.
