Meet your hiking guide at the port head off by road to the trailhead at La Cuesta de Isora. You will follow an old path that leads to the Square of La Asomada, with wild fennel and mountain mint aromatically enhancing your hike.
In the village of Isora, visit an old weaving center. The ladies on the island have long been weaving beautiful shepherd's bags, rugs and shawls. Knock on the door of Doña Carmen house. She is the last handicraft weaver in the village and you'll meet her if she happens to be at home.
Notice the incredible fig cacti lining the path that leads to the Mirador Isora. This viewpoint affords excellent vistas over the east side of the island. From here you can see the iconic Hotel Parador and El Hierro's very first (and truly tiny) tunnel.
Passing Valverde, you'll also briefly stop at Mirador La Peña .
Please note: Total hiking distance is five miles (8km). Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. The hiking path is not wheelchair-accessible. Terrain is gravel, rough and uneven ground and secondary roads. Wear comfortable hiking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up.
