The Aegean village of Sirince, once predominantly a Greek village, is today a great way to explore rural life in Turkey. Famous for its location, wonderful vineyards, and rich fruit wines, you will have an opportunity to stroll through the village and taste homemade fruit wines before enjoying a great panoramic view of the upper gate of Ephesus.
From a distance, your guide will point out the Statue of Virgin Mary. You will have a chance to take several photos before you enjoy a panoramic drive from Ephesus Upper Gate to the "Seven Sages Vineyard" or "Yedibilgeler" in Turkish.
Nestled in the countryside this unique stone chateau offers state-of -the-art winemaking facilities in the setting of lavender gardens, vineyards, and a lush green valley. Here, you will have the opportunity to learn about the wine making industry in Turkey and the resident wine expert will escort you on a tour of the facility whilst explaining the picking, producing and fermentation process. You will visit the wine cellar where the French oak barrels are stored before sampling some of these locally produced wines for yourself, accompanied by an assortment of wonderful and locally produced Turkish cheeses.
Before returning to Izmir, you will enjoy a lunch of rich Turkish cuisine at the same facility. The return to Izmir will include a refreshment stop with a brief carpet presentation as well as time for shopping.
Please note: In Sirince Village, the surfaces can be rough and uneven with broken pathways, marble ground, and cobblestones. Guest are welcome to bring wine purchases back to the ship. No corkage fees apply.
