The Aegean village of Sirince, once predominantly a Greek village famous for its location, wonderful vineyards, and rich fruit wines, is today a great place to explore rural life in Turkey.
Stroll through the village and taste homemade fruit wines.
Tale in a great panoramic view of the upper gate of Ephesus and your guide will point out the Statue of Virgin Mary in the distance.
Drive to the Seven Sages Vineyard (Yedibilgeler in Turkish). Nestled in the countryside, this stone chateau contains state-of-the-art winemaking facilities. Its setting is among lavender gardens, vineyards, and a lush green valley. Learn about the wine-making industry in Turkey as a resident wine expert escorts you on a tour of the facility. Harvesting, producing, fermentation and processes are discussed. You will visit the wine cellar, where French oak barrels flavor the wines with nuances of vanilla and honey. Sample some of the wines for yourself, accompanied by an assortment of wonderful, locally-produced Turkish cheeses.
Sit down to a lunch of rich Turkish cuisine at the winery.
The return to Izmir includes a brief carpet presentation as well as time for shopping .
Please note: This tour does not include a visit to the Ephesus site -- only a panoramic photo stop overlooking the site. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, broken pathways, cobblestones, inclines, gravel, grass, and steps. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair.
