Departing Itea, enjoy a scenic drive along a meandering road and through the village of Distomo as you head towards the Monastery of Ossios Loucas. This is one of Greece's most fascinating religious sites. The monastery, dating from the 10th century, earned its name from a local hermit. Homage was paid to him when he foresaw that an emperor by the name of Romanos would grant Crete its freedom. Enjoy the magnificent sculptures and mosaics dating from the Byzantine period, and take a pleasant stroll in the monastery's charming grounds.
Continue to Arachova -- a picturesque village with quaint houses built on the slopes of Mt Parnassus. Take this opportunity to stretch your legs with a walk through the village and shop for a variety of local products.
You'll catch a glimpse of the Delphi archaeological site en route back to Itea.
