In the picturesque Karst region of Slovenia, in the shade of centuries-old lime trees and oaks, lies the Lipica Stud Farm, birthplace of the world-renowned Lipizzaner horse. Founded in 1580, the stud farm is a jewel among the cultural and historical monuments of Slovenia. For more than four centuries, the Lipica Stud Farm has nurtured the tradition of breeding and selecting magnificent white Lipizzaner horses. Following World War II, Lipica established a classical riding school and successfully performed with its horses all over the world.
Depart the pier by coach and drive approximately 45 minutes to the farm as your local guide provides background on Koper and Slovenia. Once at the farm, you will meet your official guide from Lipica, who will escort you on your walking tour of the grounds. At the stables, you are introduced to the Lipizzaner horses in residence.
Continue with a stroll around the farm grounds and see these magnificent creatures at pasture.
End your visit by watching a training session in the main hall and enjoy a snack before the scenic drive back to the pier.
Please note: Tour operates Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday only. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
