Embark on a captivating trek through the Nestos River area -- a stunning landscape that weaves together outstanding natural beauty, historical landmarks, and vibrant local culture. Ideal for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike, this tour takes you to picturesque trails, riverside paths, and charming villages, offering a glimpse into the heart of this enchanting region.
The River Nestos separates Macedonia from Thrace, flowing into the Thracian Sea. Its famous delta is a National Park. According to Greek mythology, Nestos was born at the beginning of time. His father was Oceanus and his mother was Tethys. The environment that surrounds the Nestos River is magnificent.
Transfer to Toxotes village for a three-hour walk. You will pause at about the midway point for a snack.
Afterward, you’ll return to Kavala.
Please note: The route and pace are decided on the day based on weather and trail conditions and the group’s capability. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. A moderate level of fitness is required. The tour requires walking for three hours at a moderate pace. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability before booking. The terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, stones, inclines, gravel, grass, and steps. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Bring a backpack to stow any layers you shed. A snack is provided.
