See Lisbon's landmarks with a twist. Hop on an exclusive-to-Seabourn antique trolley tram for a panoramic ride through Lisbon. Sample Port wine and listen to a Portuguese guitar player, creating a leisurely mood as you take in the sights. Enjoy views of the Alfama and Castelo Quarters, the Tagus River and downtown Lisbon.
In Belem, visit the Jeronimos Monastery, built in the 16th century. Considered the most impressive symbol of Portugal's power and wealth during the Age of Discovery, the monastery houses the tombs of Vasco da Gama, King Manuel I, and King Sebastiao, as well as poets Fernando Pessoa and Alexandre Herculano.
Enjoy free time around Rossio Square — the heart of Lisbon's downtown. View the statue of Pombal, the man who rebuilt the city after the earthquake of 1755, and Liberty Avenue —Lisbon's answer to Piccadilly. Enjoy free time on your own to explore the area, shop or visit a neighborhood café (at your own expense) before returning to the pier.
Please note: Modest attire is required; knees, shoulders and midriffs must be covered to visit the Jeronimos Monastery. Your guide will talk about the church outside; then, you will enter to explore on your own (religious services permitting). The Jeronimos Monastery is closed on Mondays; you will visit the outside only.
