Although the Balearic Islands are well known for their beaches, until the middle of the 20th century, there was no premium associated with coastal living here. In fact, the finest houses of the noble families were always situated inland to oversee their working lands. You will visit one such estate today, called Binisues.
On the road leading to Ciutadella, you will encounter the village of Ferrerias in the rural heartland of Menorca. Not far from the village is Binisues, where you will visit a homestead that has been converted into a museum. It offers excellent insights into the Menorcan way of life a century ago. Antiques, curios, and a great compilation of native entomology, ornithology and mineralogy books make for a fascinating environment.
Look behind the scenes. The rooms and narrow passageways clearly illustrate the differences in living arrangements between the nobility and those who served them.
Finish your visit with an apéritif at the house.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Tour does not operate on Mondays.
