Explore several archaeological sites of the Talayotic (Bronze Age) culture of Menorca -- a Biosphere Reserve. This outing visits its heritage sites, including landscapes of high ecological value. The chosen archaeological sites and ethnological points of interest are set in very well-preserved rural and natural environments,
Head to the prehistoric site of Rafal Rubí (Alaior) -- an iconic funerary monument whose rites will be explained by an archaeologist.
Torre den Galmes is one of the largest Talayotic monuments in Menorca and all of the Balearic Islands. It is located atop an approximately 300-foot hill that provides an ideal panoramic view of much of Menorca's southern coast.
Pause for a snack; then, visit the taula (a Stonehenge-like monument of an upright stone with a lintel) enclosure of Trepucó. Admire the talayot here, built in the shape of a large tower with cyclopean stones. Behind it, a large taula and a stunning sanctuary are surrounded by an 18th-century defensive wall built by the Spanish army. The earlier archaeological site is believed to be influenced by Carthaginian fortification, suggesting the presence of Punic military engineers. Another magnificent talayot (tower) stands out as having one of the most spectacular taula sanctuary enclosures.
