Visit the amazing medieval village of Pals, reaching it by way of a train ride through the local rice fields.
Pals is located right in the middle of the Empordà region and consists of three districts (Pals, Masos de Pals and Platja de Pals). The town offers visitors a wide range of attractions to enjoy all year round. In fact, it is one of the best-known and most-visited towns in the region, thanks to the beauty of its landscape and its rich legacy of history and heritage.
Pals boasts one of the most beautiful and best-preserved Gothic sites in the Empordà region. The train takes you up to the old church, and from there you will walk to the tower and the viewpoint.
Leaving Pals village, your train journey continues. You're about to discover the entire process of rice production, from the seed-sowing in the paddies to the harvest of the grain, to the grinding at the mill to its final packaging and merchandising. All this takes place among the unrivaled scenery of the Pals marshlands, and the rice farm you visit has been milling and processing rice since the 15th century.
Take in the great view of the rice paddies, with Montgri Mountain as a backdrop, as you return to the ship in Palamos.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. This excursion will be hosted by a designated guide. The train portion however, may be shared with the general public, subject to the number of guests booked. Separate narration, will be provided during the train portion, which can be enjoyed by all guests on the train, and is not exclusive to Seabourn guests. Tour does not operate on Sundays.
