Enjoy snorkeling in a marine reserve on a sustainable tour at Medes Islands, Costa Brava -- one of the most beautiful coastal areas of Spain.
The Medes Archipelago has seven islets and is a famous destination for scuba diving. It is one of the most important marine flora and fauna reserves in the western Mediterranean. In 1983, it was declared a "Protection of the Marine Area" and in 1990, the protection was extended to "Marine Partial Nature Reserve." In 2016, the Torroella de Montgrí-L’Estartit-Medes Islands obtained the prestigious European Charter for Sustainable Tourism. The Islands have also been recognized as one of the 100 most sustainable destinations in the world by the International Association Green Destinations.
Snorkeling in this natural aquarium is a great opportunity to see the best of the Mediterranean Sea. In this reserve, the touristic activities are regulated and fishing is not allowed. Explore this underwater world on a one-hour snorkeling accompanied by a marine scientist. The certified guides are not only divers, but experts in marine flora and fauna. Discover a rich variety of marine life including multi-colored nudibranchs, fan mussels and white sea fans. Learn to recognize the most common fish, like damsels and varieties of sea bream.
Make the most of this lovely boat trip full of sunbathing, snorkeling, subaquatic world and fantastic views of Costa Brava. After the snorkeling adventure, enjoy delicious homemade Mediterranean Tapas in a traditional restaurant in Estartit.
Please note: On this sustainable tour, you will be contributing with the marine reserve conservation and the local economy as the complete value chain is based upon using suppliers from the community and sustainability-certified companies. The tour is designed for a limited size group (max 26 guests) to minimize the tourism impact on the environment and to provide an exclusive experience. Participants must be able to swim in order to participate. Minimum age 6 years. Bring your own towel, sun protection, sunglasses, head cover. Wear a swimsuit under your clothes. Wetsuit, snorkel, mask, fins and extra buoyancy support are provided.
