You'll follow picturesque roads once traveled only by farmers' horses and carts. Stop en route for stunning views of three of the Cinque Terre villages and pass by the village church.
At the local wine-producers association, you will sample three different wines produced on these very hillsides. Produce grown in the immediate vicinity is also offered for tasting. Sample a dish of trenette al pesto (handmade pasta and sauce). Pine nuts or pistachios, olive oil and basil -- the key ingredients in pesto -- are grown on terraces toed into the hillside.
Guests who wish to stay in Portovenere to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so but must make their own way back to the ship.
Please note: Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes.
