Explore the medieval landmarks of the province of Girona and the historical towns surrounding Palamos, beginning with a coach drive north to Pubol.
In 1968, Salvador Dalí bought the castle in Pubol and gifted it to his wife. He renamed it the Gala Dalí Castle. Explore this Gothic-Renaissance fortress that has undergone numerous transformations since it was originally built circa AD 1017. With restoration work that took a year to complete, Dalí changed the castle's appearance almost completely, furnishing it with pieces from antique dealers in the region. He decorated the garden with elephants and built a swimming pool with busts of Richard Wagner. In 1982, Gala was buried at the palace and it opened to the public as a museum in 1996. Inside you'll see the many paintings and drawings that Dalí gave to his wife.
Lunch is served at a local restaurant.
Continue to Peratallada, surrounded by natural moats. In the 1960s, the Castle of Peratallada was restored to its medieval splendor by its present owners. They welcome you today to experience this impressive medieval enclosure.
A coach drive north brings you to the medieval hilltop town of Pals. Take in the wonderful views of the countryside of Girona.
