According to Adriatic legend, Jason and Medea founded the town of Polai -- the source of life -- on the tip of the Istrian peninsula. Later, the Romans claimed it as a divine town for the pleasure of the rich. Today it is simply known as Pula.

Your guide offers some interesting insights into the 3,000-year history of Pula -- one of the oldest towns in Europe. Nowadays, this busy city is best known for its many surviving roman ruins, the most famous and best-preserved of which is the magnificent 1st-century Roman amphitheatre. It is the sixth largest amphitheatre in the world and is still used today for summer film festivals.

Your walking tour also visits other notable ancient roman structures, including the Sergius Arch and the temple built in honor of the 1st-century Roman emperor Caesar Augustus.

Don't miss the Roman city gates and walls, a Byzantine chapel nearby, and free time at the open-air city market.

Re-boarding the motorcoach, you'll return to Rovinj.

Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes.
