portovenere, cinque terre, and the islands (palmaria, tino and tinetto)
"the ligurian coast between cinque terre and portovenere is a cultural landscape of great scenic and cultural value. the layout and disposition of the small towns and the shaping of the surrounding landscape, overcoming the disadvantages of a steep, uneven terrain, encapsulate the continuous history of human settlement in this region over the past millennium.
depart by coach from santa margherita ligure pier to manarola -- an enchanting village with a tiny and typical fishermen's wharf. tour this village before you board a boat to reach vernazza, a picturesque fishing port, where you will enjoy a brief introduction to the town.
you will then proceed to monterosso -- perhaps the prettiest village of the cinque terre. after a short tour of this interesting and picturesque village that closely hugs its small harbor, you'll have some free time to purchase lunch (at your own expense) and for some shopping.
afterwards, meet your guide for a five-minute train transfer to levanto, where your motorcoach will be waiting to drive you back to santa margherita ligure (portofino).
please note: use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience. bring credit cards and cash, as lunch is on your own. boat transportation is weather dependent; in case of inclement conditions, a ride by local train will be substituted. the train is basic public transport.
