Sitges is an iconic town 20 miles south of Barcelona. Once an old small fishing village, nowadays it is one of southern Catalonia's favorite spots with great beaches and a happy disposition. Sitges is well-known for its climate and its culture -- many writers, painters and intellectuals have chosen it as their residence and place of inspiration.
Enjoy a pleasant guided stroll through the Old Town, seeing highlights such as the local market, the Town Hall, the Romantic Museum, the Maricel Museum and the Sant Bartolomé and Santa Tecla Church.
To complete your morning, make the most of some free time to relax on one of the famous beaches of Sitges.
For a change of pace in the afternoon, you'll head to Augustus Cellar, just a mile from the Mediterranean Sea. It's a vineyard grown for vinegar rather than wine, and it has a long history. The vineyard is set on the ancient Via Augusta -- the Roman road that connected Cádiz to Rome when the Empire was at its zenith. The first vines were planted here in the 1980s and, today, the cellars produce amazing vinegars matured in oak barrels. They have won international awards for their wonderful product.
Please note: Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. The Cellars are not wheelchair accessible. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces and steps. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Swim at your own risk.
