Explore three Ligurian villages -- Portofino, Santa Margherita, and Rapallo -- with a guided walking tour in each of these Italian Riviera beauties.
Board a motorboat and head across the bay to Santa Margherita -- a picturesque seaside village in the Italian Riviera. Walk through the small harbor area and admire from afar Villa Durazzo, located on the hillside. Stroll through the charming village streets to the Central Square.
Head for the city of Rapallo to walk along its seaside promenade lined with palm trees. Here, the small Castle on the Sea guards the harbor entrance, and you’ll follow narrow alleys lined with colorful shops to Piazza Cavour. View the Town Hall and Chiesa di San Stefano. Take a break from sightseeing and enjoy some free time to wander about on your own.
You’ll drive back to Santa Margherita and board a motorboat to Portofino, whose colorful houses overlook the harbor, huddling together in a tight semi-circle. Your walking tour here leads you to Saint George’s Church, honoring Portofino’s patron saint, whose relics were interred here but the Crusaders. The church was built in Romanesque style in 1154 and, after a brush with a bomb during World War II, was completely rebuilt in the 1950s.
Guests wishing to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so but must make their own way back to the ship.
Please note: Bring local currency, as many vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience. In the event of adverse sea conditions, the transfer between Santa Margherita and Portofino operates by public bus.
