Meet up with your local guide for a guided walk through Arendal. Begin with a stroll through the Old Town, called Tyholmen. Here you will find wooden houses that still look the same today as they did a hundred years ago or more. Learn why Arendal was once called the Venice of the North and see beautifully restored old townhouses -- some dating back to the 16th century. View the exterior of the old Arendal City Hall -- Norway's tallest and second-largest wooden building. It was quite an accomplishment when it was built.
On the waterfront, discover the area called Pollen. You'll stop at a local café for a cup of coffee or tea and a delicious, fresh-baked local pastry. Catch an impression of the active Scandinavian maritime lifestyle here, taking in the action at Arendal's lively harbor before you head back to the ship.
Please note: Participants must be in good physical condition and able to walk at a moderate pace for a sustained period. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
