Depart the pier and travel approximately 90 minutes to the Giant's Causeway via the inland route.
At the Giant's Causeway Visitor Center, meet your National Trust tour guide and take your first steps onto the spectacular Causeway. This geological wonder, with its 40,000 basalt stone columns, was created by volcanic eruptions about 60 million years ago. Or was it built by warring giants? You'll hear both sides of the story so you can decide for yourself.
On this easy-going stroll, you will be immersed in nature as you inhale the fresh sea air and listen to the sounds of birdlife. Make your way along the Causeway to meet a Bushmills Whiskey expert, who will explain the history and the methods used in the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world, dating back to 1608. Take a seat on rocks as a 12-Year-Old Distillery Reserve is poured. This whiskey is exclusively available at the Distillery and cannot be purchased online. Your guide will talk you through the tastes and scents that distinguish Bushmills from competitors. Raise a toast to the Causeway giants and take a sip of warming whiskey served, quite literally, on the rocks.
Return to the Visitor Center for some time to purchase refreshments at the café.
Please note: This tour is nonrefundable within 72 hours of the port of call. Minimum age is 18 years. Tour sequence may vary. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Dress warmly in layers; outer layer should be windproof and waterproof. The walking distance to/from the Visitor Centre to the Giant's Causeway is approximately .75 miles each way. Terrain includes uneven surfaces, loose rocks, and inclines. There is a small shuttle bus available with limited access operating between the Visitor Center and the Causeway; this is an independent service paid directly at the shuttle.
