Experience what it's like to be a crab fisherman on the west coast of Norway as you assist from preparing the crab pots and hauling in the catch to helping cook your catch at your host's boathouse. This is a hands-on experience from beginning to end.
Get kitted out with a weatherproof suit; then, your adventure begins with a high-speed RIB ride to the coast of Bergen.
A RIB (rigid inflatable) fishing boat awaits you, and you'll head a short distance out to the North Sea, where local fishermen are familiar with the best brown crab fishing spots. The robust brown crab makes its home in the clear, fresh waters along the Norwegian coastline.
After pulling up a few crab pots and taking these tasty critters out, you will continue to your host's boathouse to learn how to prepare your catch. The crab will be served the Norwegian way, accompanied by bread, butter, lemon and mayonnaise. Sit back and enjoy your meal while your host shares stories about life on the islands.
On the return RIB ride to the city, appreciate the coastal landscape and magnificent scenery all around you.
Please note: Minimum age is 8 years. Guests who are pregnant or have a heart, back or neck condition are not allowed to participate. Tour requires a half-mile walk (each way) to the boat. Weatherproof suits, life jackets and goggles are provided and must be worn. The fishing boat is open-air. Wear flat shoes. You may get wet. Restrooms are available at the boathouse. Waiver must be signed and medical conditions disclosed.
