Transfer to the campus of Waterford Institute of Technology and gear up with a bicycle.
Set off on a leisurely bike ride with your guide. Being Irish, (s)he will not be able to resist sharing tales tall and true as you pedal along the former Waterford, Dungarvan & Lismore Railway right of way. The line opened in 1878 and was considered the most scenic rail route in Ireland. Today, it still offers wonderful views of the lush green countryside. Your outing provides a snippet of the scenery, and you will stop for photos along the way as you take in the stunning vistas.
A rest and light refreshments are on offer in Kilmeade, en route to the village of Kilmacthomas. Once you reach the outskirts of this quaint little village, you will be invited to step indie the Coach House for tea/coffee and scone. This building was once an old famine house and dates back to the 1840s. Its story is told through the photographs that are displayed on the walls.
Transfer back to the ship by coach. Please note: Participants must be physically able to cycle 11 miles at a leisurely pace. Electric bikes are not available -- all bikes will be push bikes. Please note: Minimum age is 10 years.
