The small town of Brønnøysund is located roughly in the middle of the long and winding Norwegian coastline. The surrounding landscape is scenic - protected from the Atlantic Ocean in the west by a myriad of islands.
Join this visit to the legendary Mt Torghatten, traveling through the center of Brønnøysund and over the Brønnøysund Bridge, which connects the mainland with Torget Island.
Through the centuries Mt Torghatten, with its distinctive hole in the mountain, has been a well-known landmark for sailors. The mountain's shape resembles a hat and, according to legend, the hole was made by an arrow from the Horseman of Hestmannen Island.
Leave the coach for a hike of about 30 minutes each way up to the hole. It measures about 165 yards long by 35 yards tall by 15 yards wide, and offers a fine view.
Please note: The hiking track is rough terrain, climbing up and down, winding through and around natural obstacles such as rocks. Guests are required to negotiate around 150 steps during the tour. Wear hiking boots or similarly sturdy footwear. Dress in layers and bring water- and windproof clothing, as it can be chilly, even on a fine day. Not advisable for guests with a heart condition and/or mobility limitations.
