A pretty drive brings you to the Médoc region, north of Bordeaux. Located between the Gironde River estuary and the Atlantic Ocean, the Médoc wine road provides magnificent views of vine-covered gravelly rises as far as the eye can see. All the famous names are here -- Lafite Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild, Pichon Longueville, Beychevelle, Margaux and many more.
Passing the villages of Margaux, Saint Julien and Pauillac, you will reach Saint Estephe and the elegant Château Phelan Segur. This estate is rated 'exceptional' by wine specialists everywhere. Visit within to learn about Segur's viticulture and vinification techniques. An in-house chef's cuisine lunch is beautifully paired with estate wines.
You will also visit Château Batailley for a Seabourn-exclusive experience. Monsieur Noel Richard, Export Director for the Château, will greet you and guide you on a tour of the exquisite estate. This is quite an honor, as M Richard also leads you in a tasting of three of the château's world-renowned vintages. This estate is one of the oldest in the Médoc region and its name derives from a battle during the Hundred Years War. Take a moment to appreciate Château Batailley's garden, designed by Napoleon III's landscape architect.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Minimum age is 18 years.
