Cognac is not only a well-known double-distilled spirit but also a beautiful city. It is situated on the River Charente, and much of the town has been built on its left bank. The smaller right-bank area is known as the Saint Jacques district. Cognac has been growing grapes since the Middle Ages. It was during the 17th century that the trade took a new turn with distillation and the creation of Cognac as we know it today.
A two-hour drive through the French countryside brings you to a charming local brasserie-style restaurant where you'll relax and enjoy a meal of renowned French cuisine.
Next, welcome to Hennessy -- the world's largest seller of Cognac products and part of LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy) luxury products group. A guided tour unveils the history, craftsmanship and worldview of the Maison Hennessy, spanning both sides of the Charente River. Slip behind the scenes and unlock the secrets of exceptional cognacs as you step through the doors of the Paradis aging cellar. This is where some of Hennessy's oldest eaux-de-vie are stored.
Learn about the saga and the craft of Hennessy and, in a private lounge, discover the refined rituals of tasting. Alongside a house expert, you'll taste some of Hennessy's finest cognacs -- Hennessy XO and Paradis.
Leaving the distillery behind, walk through the Old Town of Cognac before heading back to the ship in Bordeaux. Minimum age to drink alcohol is 18 years with a companion aged 21 years or older.
