Enjoy a taste of Wales with an exclusive visit to the family-run Velfrey Vineyard, where the Pembrokeshire sunshine provides the perfect ripening conditions.
Occupying a gentle south-facing slope of Lampeter Vale in south Pembrokeshire, Velfrey Vineyard has 4,000 vines planted across nearly three acres. The vines are planted in a sandy-clay loam, a soil type found in some of the world's most prestigious wine-growing regions. Two of the four wines produced here have won multiple awards.
Meet with one of the Mounsey family and discover how Velfrey Vineyard was established. Follow a year in the life of the vineyard, from winter pruning all the way through grape harvesting. Learn how the wines are produced and see the vines up close before enjoying a wine tasting of three different varietals.
Relax on the terrace (weather permitting) or in the visitor lodge overlooking the vineyard with a platter of Welsh cheeses and charcuterie from artisan producers of West Wales and Monmouthshire. Locally baked focaccia, Pembrokeshire pickles, Welsh crackers, and a selection of olives, sundried tomatoes, and salad leaves round out this wonderful taste treat, along with a glass of Velfrey sparkling wine.
Please note: Terrain includes a gentling sloping crushed-rocked pathway; even and uneven surfaces. Minimum age is 18 years. Minimum age to drink alcohol is 18 years, with a companion aged 21 years or older. Tour requires approximately one hour of walking. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair.
