William Shakespeare, one of the most famous English citizens of all time, has touched millions of people across the world with his timeless tales and dramatic masterpieces. Indeed, performing Shakespeare's work is a rite of passage for any actor.
Travel to The Globe -- Shakespeare's theatre situated right in the heart of the city on the Southbank of the River Thames. An expert guide will describe colorful stories of the space that dates back to 1599, the reconstruction process in 1990s, and how the theatre works today. Based underneath the theatre, an engaging exhibition explores the life of Shakespeare himself -- you will have time to browse here after the tour.
Next, enjoy some free time to explore the cultural hub that is the Southbank area. Take an invigorating walk along the River Thames or visit the famous Tate Modern art gallery, which sits along the same stretch of riverbank (at your own expense).
Please note:
The Globe is a working theatre; tours may not be available due to performances, rehearsals or events and/or may be affected by technical work in the theatre. There are several staircases, totaling 63 steps from the tour assembly point. Staff are positioned throughout the exhibition to provide assistance; however, to fully appreciate the tour, participants must be able to climb the stairs with ease.
