A panoramic drive inland from Great Yarmouth takes you towards Blickling -- a quintessentially Norfolk estate. The breathtaking red-brick mansion and ancient yew hedges sit at the heart of a magnificent garden and historic park in the beautiful Bure Meadows.
Blickling's owners have used the estate as a place of quiet refuge while playing their part on the world's political stage. Philip Kerr, eleventh Marquis of Lothian, left this estate to the National Trust in 1940, and he is vital to its story. Today you are invited to view the parts of the house that Kerr used privately, as well as for entertaining. Photographs, sounds and objects will create a sense of what it would have been like to be a houseguest in the period leading up to World War II.
Following the free-flow visit, enjoy a stroll through the formal garden -- the result of three centuries of inspired planting.
Please note: Tour does not operate on Sundays.
