Experience Hamburg at dusk, try a German beer, and form your own impression of Hamburg's famous nightlife as you view the major highlights of the city.
Your tour starts with the newest part of town -- HafenCity -- adjacent to the historic warehouse district. Passing an extraordinary combination of architectural styles, take in the view of the Elbe River as you drive along the Landungsbrücken jetties. There are often old sailing ships docked here. Before you head towards the city center, pass the Old Elbe Tunnel and the Planten und Blomen Park.
See Hamburg's landmark St Michael's Church before you leave the coach at the historic Deichstrasse. This tiny, cozy street shows some of the historical architecture that is typical of northern Germany. Walk past grand Baroque façades as well as small frame houses.
At a local microbrewery, enjoy a freshly brewed German beer and a salty pretzel; then, your tour continues with a photo stop at Hamburg's beautiful Town Hall, built in North German Renaissance style.
Next, your guide will take you on an eye-opening stroll along the Reeperbahn boulevard -- Hamburg's famous entertainment and red-light district. Nowadays this area is a popular spot in Hamburg's mainstream nightlife scene. During your walk, you will stop in front of an old fishermen's pub for a schnapps -- a typical local liqueur. Have a quick look in the door for a glimpse of old Hamburg before you head back to the ship.
Please note: Minimum age is 18 years. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience. Tour requires approximately one hour of easy-to-moderate walking. There are a few steps to negotiate as well as uneven and cobblestone streets in the city center. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Tour operates rain or shine, but may be cancelled by the operator in the event of extremely bad weather or unsuitable conditions. Bring a waterproof outer layer. Bring local currency, as many vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars. Use of public restroom facilities costs 50 cents - €1 cash.
