"Built in the second half of the 18th century by Sweden on a group of islands located at the entrance of Helsinki's harbor, this fortress is an especially interesting example of European military architecture of the time."
Discover Helsinki's Suomenlinna Fortress Island. A short walk brings you to the waterbus that will take you across to Suomenlinna Island. Suomenlinna Fortress was built in the 18th century and is a unique monument of military architecture. With your guide, you will explore the island and hear its history. Your walk takes you the special places that make Suomenlinna memorable.
The island has also long a beer brewing tradition, so you will head to the Bastion Bistro, housed in a building dating back to 1892. Hear about and taste four local beers along with local cheeses and sausage.
Finally, you will have free time to explore the island by yourself before returning to the ship.
