Greeting you at the pier is a friendly local guide who will provide insight into everyday life on the remote location of Heimaey Island. Learn about the local history and the influences that have made this beautiful destination what it is today. During this leisurely walk you will be introduced to Icelandic cuisine and visit the local brewery.
At Slippurinn restaurant, you will taste dishes focused on fresh seafood. Chef Gisli Matthias Audunsson is a genius in creating inventive dishes from locally sourced, fresh ingredients. A visit to Sagnheimar Folk Museum will provide a visual insight into the island’s history.
Back in 2012, four brothers decided to open a brewery on the island and it didn’t take long for them to make their mark and gain popularity. The Brothers Brewery is the first of its kind on the island and not only offers informative beer tasting sessions, you will also have the opportunity to tour the brewery.
Your final stop is at GOTT -- a healthy, creative family owned restaurant in Vestmannaeyjar with fresh, authentic ingredients. The head chef Sigurdur Gislason, is a former member of the Icelandic culinary team.
