This you-drive, guided all-terrain-vehicle safari starts from the base in the center of Honningsvåg, just a short walk from the ship.
After a safety briefing and instructions, put on a driving suit and climb aboard a two-person ATV. You will head towards NATO Mountain and experience the fantastic nature of Magerøy Island. Stop for photos at several stunning viewpoints.
At Sarnes, disembark your ATV and take a well-earned coffee break in a lavvo (Sami tent). The coffee is made over an open fire, and you will sit on reindeer skins to relax and enjoy it.
After the break, drive back to Honningsvåg and return your ATV and driving suit.
Please note: Each ATV carries two people; there will be a chance to switch drivers at the halfway point. Cost is per person and based on two passengers per ATV. Minimum age to drive is 18 years with a valid driver’s license that must be shown. Minimum age for non-drivers (accompanied by an adult) is 14 years. Maximum weight is 250 lbs. Wear closed-toe shoes (mandatory). Suitable for physically fit guests. Guests who are pregnant or have a heart, back or neck condition are not allowed to participate. Regular rules for driving cars apply; guests under the influence of alcohol will not be permitted to drive. Total driving time is about 1½ hours between both drivers. Equipment provided includes a thermal suit, gloves and a helmet. Waiver must be signed and medical conditions disclosed. A damage deductible of kr10,000 (US$1,700) applies. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf.
