Journey through the picturesque villages and dramatic landscapes of the Westfjords, where every turn reveals a new vista of natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Begin your adventure in the charming town of Isafjordur, where you'll explore its most important landmarks. From there, venture through a tunnel to the fishing village of Flateyri, nestled in the scenic Önundarfjörður fjord.
In Flateyri, we delve into the village's fascinating history, from its origins as a trading port in 1792 to its modern-day significance as a bustling fishing community. Learn about the old whaling station and marvel at the unique golden beach and protected eider duck nesting site across the fjord. Pause for a refreshment break at a local café where you will taste heart-warming and home-made Icelandic specialties.
Continuing your journey, traverse another tunnel to reach Bolungarvík, the northernmost town in the Westfjords and a hub of fishing activity. Explore the picturesque church perched atop a hill, offering sweeping views of the town and its surroundings.
As our tour draws to a close, return to Isafjordur for a final stop at Dokkan Brewery, a local microbrewery renowned for its exceptional craft beers. Sample a selection of their finest brews, savoring the unique flavors that capture the essence of the Westfjords.
